Rust College Student Honored for Service in Iraqi Operations

Rust College graduating senior Deidre Olive was recently honored by the U.S. Air Force for her outstanding service during her tour of duty in Iraq during Operations “Iraqi Freedom” and “Enduring Freedom”. Olive, a native of Chicago, Illinois, has been a member of the Air Force since July 2007, and served nearly a year in Qatar.

Senior Airman (SrA) Olive received Certificates of Appreciation for her service in the 379th Expeditionary Force Support Squadron and the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing. She also served with the Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), which conducts operations in the East Africa region to build partner nation capacity in order to promote regional security and stability, prevent conflict, and protect US and coalition interests.

Olive will graduate Sunday, May 1, 2011, receiving her Bachelors of Science in Biology and Chemistry. She is a member of the Rust College Pre-Alumni Council and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Commencement begins at 2:00 p.m. and will be held in the McMillan Multi-Purpose Center on the campus of Rust College.
