Eddie Long Case May End Up Going to Trial….Good

After moving along quite speedily, it appears that Bishop Eddie Long may end up going to trial after all. Reports are coming out of Atlanta from Channel 2 News that the judge in the case, Johnny Panos, has stated that he is going to prepare to have a trial in the fall. This is in contradiction to earlier reports that the case might be settled out of court.

Earlier this year, the judge had stated that the two groups were coming close to a settlement, with only small details to be worked out. The case resulted from four men accusing Bishop Long of using his authority as pastor to coerce them into s*x. Bishop Long is denying the allegations.

My position on the case of Bishop Eddie Long has always been simple: The members of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church deserve to know the truth. Therefore, a public trial will either exonerate the pastor completely or make the congregation members fully aware of the fact that their children might be in danger. There honestly is no other way to think about this.

Bishop Long hopefully agrees with my assertion. Very early in the process, he made it clear that the truth would eventually come out. Well, in order for the congregation to know that they are really being given the truth, that information must come from an objective source. Whether he is a gay man looking for an excuse to come out of the closet or a straight man who’s been falsely accused, for Bishop Eddie Long, the truth will surely set him free.

We both know sis that money and power always plays a part into any situation. They've already stated that a settling out of court fell through. That's odd to me if he claims innocent. Why would you want to settle anything. Maybe he just didn't want to drag it through the courts, but I do know one thing. I watched live this past weekend, which I don't ever because Eddie Long never did anything for me. I just didn't get his message. But I must say, the church was packed. His members are standing strong behind him. I don't know if it was due to Bishop TD Jakes preaching or what, but anywho, his members need to know the truth, be it good or bad. They deserve that. Amen!

Thanks for the info Anita, and just between you and me, don't you think 'money' will end up being Judge and jury in this case? lol (smile)

"I" fully agree because he is a Black man which means he is already guilty so like you I wish he would go to court, because this will never have an end to it good of bad if he don't. "I" was turned off with the part about the settlement had broken down which says nothing past the all mighty $$$$$$$$$$$$$. And, taht is going to bring not only him down but his church along with its members, and I am more interested in his church members not having any long term harms from a money settlement. (nup)

please keep us posted as Iknow nothing about this person as I had never even heard of him before. I am so glad Bishop Jakes is there and I hope they listened to what he ahd to say . (smile)
