FORMER CHIEF OF AFGHAN INTELLIGENCE TELLS LARA LOGAN HE LOCATED BIN LADEN IN 2007

CBS, May 15, 2011—The news that Osama bin Laden had been hiding in plain sight in a Pakistani military town surprised many Americans, but it came as no surprise to the man you'll hear from. His name is Amrullah Saleh and four years ago he told Pakistan's president that bin Laden was living in that very area.

At the time, Saleh was at the height of his power as Afghanistan's top spy, their chief of intelligence. No one worked more closely with the U.S. in the fight against al Qaeda and the Taliban. He is also one of Pakistan's fiercest critics and long before bin Laden's death, behind closed doors, he was urging the U.S. to pay attention to the intelligence he was gathering on Pakistan's covert support for America's enemies.

Now he makes that case publicly in an interview with Lara Logan on 60 Minutes.

Here is a case where a man with a reputation makes a public statement and stands by it with his name.

Anybody who wants to challenge his statement and offer a different information can easily do it. Any ravenous media outlet will be ready to listen.

The reporter, Lara Logan, has a reputation for dogged perseverence and journalstic intergrity.

60 MInutes is a high class organization featuring high quality investigative reporting.

Good reporting.

Interesting ... the thing that is evident about the relationship between Pakistan and America is that of a very disfunctional union. They don't really get along with one another, but at the same time they still need one another for their own selfish interests.

"I" do fully agree wit all that you say Rich, but where I am coming from is every thing must came at the right time, example, I don't believe one just walks in and see the President or teh person who runs the CIA/ Pentagon. And, who would have even been interested in Bin Laden dead or alive at the time?

I do believe our president when he said he trusted no one asoucated with the Palistani government...I know I would not have been happy with anyone believeing J Edger Hoover or even president Bush...which makes me now wonder does this make this person's going on 60 Minutes more crediable or less credibale...just me and my observance that patience is a vertue and he should have made tis interview with 60 minutes on condition taht our president got to see it before they aired it if he really wanted a way to get to our presiden's ears as I am ure he has more vital info that our president can use, but maybe not now...that's all. (smile)
