A lesson on Paleo-Hebrew and a question for Jake

Steve Williams · Monday, May 30th 2011 at 6:43PM · 691 views
This video explains the Paleo-Hebrew text of the beginning of Exodus 20. Jake, do you have any idea where the author got this text? The only source which I've found is 4QPaleoExod which, interestingly, doesn't include the tenth commandment.

That's what I was wondering too, if he converted it himself. I did find this book about the scroll, but there's no information on whether it contains the actual text.

Thanks Jake, I'm going there now to have a look. I did come across a site about this when doing my search for the source of this video, and I remembered you posting about it previously. Here's another link to a book which looks very promising as to the relations of the various scripts/languages used for the ancient texts.

@Jake, thanks as now I can follow the History channel's series better when they be talking about things like the changes in spellings of words like Yahweh, Yahawah. As I will pay more attention to any program they talk about the Dead Sea Scrolls as these seem to be on going learning from them by scholars.(smile)
