This reminds me of a story I read. Set in the 19th century a Royal Navy ship was chasing some pirates and the pirates in order to get away threw the rowers, still chained, overboard to the sharks. And no, the Royal Navy ship didn't stop to save these men from drowning, but kept on after the pirates.
