Actor Peter Falk, who rose to fame on a rumpled raincoat and a shambling manner as the TV detective Lt. Columbo, has died at 83. Falk died peacefully at his home in Beverly Hills, California, on Thursday evening, according to a statement released to CNN by a family friend. The cause of death was not released. In 2008, Falk's daughter said he was suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
