By Team BLAM

Considering the historical and current cultural climate in America, it’s hard to be an African American and totally avoid internalizing and/or projecting stereotypes about black men that in many ways further perpetuate discord in black relationships. Yes…in some way or another we are ALL guilty of making the black man look like “the big bad wolf”. Our words and actions aren’t always consistent with elevating black men because we’re infused with the cultural DNA of this country which for centuries has been about keeping the black man down. This is the point of the post where many of you will say, “What about Barack”? Well guess what… I too say “What about Barack?” and I say it for the great number of brotha’s that are out here saying “What about me?”

With that being said we’re challenging you to be more mindful about the role you play in perpetuating negative stereotypes about black men. Sure brotha’s need to be held accountable…sure brotha’s need to hear the truth. But be aware, the truth you tell and the way you tell it may be greatly influenced by stereotypes about black men that ain’t always true. Check out the below stereotypes and let us know what you think. Let us know HOW some of these stereotypes are straight up lies.

1. Black Men Are Lazy And Don’t Like To Work

2. Black Men Are Dogs

3. Black Men Are Well Endowed

4. Black Men Are Bad Providers

5. Black Men Only Want s*x

6. Black Men Are Not Good Fathers

8. Black Men Are Dumb

9. Black Men Go To Jail

10. Black Men Are Great Athletes

Hello Saint,

Your blog is not pushing Black Americans forward. Your blog is whining and complaining about how we treat each other.

I believe all of that will change once we developed the mindset that our only permanent solution is that we must desire to become a sovereign people on a reasonable and fertile portion of this continent that we could call our very own country with borders that we could do our own thing without being influenced by the outside world.

This is what happened with the children of Israel in the 40 years that they spent in the desert.

The children of Israel while they were in Egypt they were influenced by the Egyptians. The children of Israel stereotype themselves and found many faults about themselves that evaporated once they were free from Pharaoh and Egypt's influence. Am I making any sense?

Consequentially, the same if you will is going to happen with Black Americans.

Again, your blog does not point out what our permanent solution is. All that you are doing is whining and complaining like everyone else is.

What say you?
