HUFFINGTON POST, August 2, 2011--Rachel Maddow's contract with MSNBC has been extended by several years, The Huffington Post has confirmed. The deal will be announced by MSNBC at the Television Critics' Association session in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news.

Maddow is MSNBC's highest-rated anchor, and the network was surely clamoring to keep her. Recently, Keith Olbermann has made noises about trying to poach Maddow away from MSNBC and bring her with him to Current TV. The new deal prevents any such move from happening. A source told TVNewser that the deal may extend into 2014.

MSNBC made the right move, eh. Congrats to Rachel Maddow on securing her job. Well done!

right, Jen!
She has proven herself to be the most astute, informed, reasonable, insightful commentator around.

It always amazes me to see how she picks up stories and perspectives everyone else misses.

She was the one who brought to our attention the closing of the Katherine Ferguson Academy for young mothers in Detroit even though it was one of the most successful programs.

She stayed on the story until they finally had to keep the school open!

She is a gem!!!

I know!

That FAA shutdown was absolutely ridiculous.

I like what President Obama said: "The American people voted for divided govt. They sure didn't vote for dysfunctional govt."
