GOV. RICK PERRY'S TEXAS SHOWS THE CORRUPTING POWER OF UNLIMITED CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS

Richard Kigel · Saturday, August 27th 2011 at 8:56PM · 1999 views
THE RACHEL MADDOW SHOW, August 26, 2011--Rachel Maddow shows how wealthy Texans have been able to manipulate the system for their own gain against the interests of ordinary Texas residents.

Say you're a Texan. and you have the misfortune of toxic mold in your house. It's not because you did anything wrong but because your home builder did a shoddy job and used shoddy materials and the consequence for your family is now you have toxic mold.

If you would like to sue the builder responsible for the toxic mold, I have bad news. The top contributor to the Governor of Texas is a zillionaire homebuilder who does not want to be sued. So you are out of luck.

We need to be aware of what is going on.

This is the trend in national politics. The wealthy buy influence. Ordinary folks have no recourse. We are powerless.

Irma--when you mentioned Rachel a moment ago you reminded me of this report she filed yesterday. As usual, it was up to her high journalistic standards and it presented an angle that is not being covered very much.

I wonder how the people of Texas feel about the situation knowing that wealthy donors are limited their opportunities.

Irma--thank you for asking about my next book.

I made some substantial progress this summer on my Phillis Wheatley bio. Twelve chapters in the can. I would say it is a little more than halfway done.

The next segment is about her poems--a short discussion of many of the poems featured in her 1773 book. Right now, I am doing the research, gathering my notes, organizing. Then comes the writing part--I do not expect to begin that for several months.

AFter that I will begin organizing and note taking for the publication of her book--a momentous event, her trip to London and her freedom.

The book is still several years from actually being completed. But I love working on it because I am absolutely in love with Phillis Wheatley. She is one person I wish I could meet personally!

Great my brother Cow...and since you are a writting teacher, you might want to keep us informed on your progress and how to go about writting our own books sort of like a site writting class...

Our site does do blogs about how to sell your books, but not how to research and do outlines on how to do the next step beyond the idea of writting a book. Thanks (smile)
