THE OPERATION WHICH
DISCONNECTED
08.29.2011
Memphis, Tennessee

LeBonheur Children’s Hospital conducted a most complicated operation on August 29, 2011 as a rare surgery took place to disconnect co-joined twins. The newborns were born
co-joined at the back, pelvis and lower spine. Twins underwent the surgery in August but it was not made public until September 14, 2011. Doctors reported that they did conduct several practice trials before the initial operation on the twins. However, the practice paid off as the operation was a success. The twins were disconnected and showed signs of improvement from the surgery. Joshua and Jacob Spates grabbed connection with national attention with one the firsts operations located at a Memphis based hospital. With more progress to face one of twins may require additional surgery, but outlooks appear to be connecting their lives to having separate spaces. Doctors indicate now separated twins they each may require connection of braces to walk.

That’s a connection of a rare kind in Memphis…
Wishing those cuties the best of health soon enough they'll get

Many Memphians and local folks did three days of celebrating connections with peace and harmony. This year marked the 2nd anniversary of Peace and Harmony Days. Wednesday thru Friday were complete with events promoting peace and harmony and interfaith among citizens of Memphis and surrounding areas. Groups met in different areas of the city which gave prayers, and or services making new days of peace and harmony to connect in harmony. The festival event began last year as a tribute to the Dalai Lama for spiritual and political peace. The Pema Karpo Meditation Center of Memphis organized the fest and look forward to it’s longstanding peace and harmony day event to keep connecting to make days with this event to keep on coming.
