OK, Irma. You twisted my arm.

Here is the story of how come Irma calls me "Brother Cow."

I was driving with my dearest friend, a woman who is no longer with us--she died at the age of 45--and her sister. We were making the 8 hour drive from NY to Pittsburgh where she was a candidate for lung transplant surgery.

The two of them were talking family talk--and since they are Jamaican, it was all in patois that I could not understand. I kept asking them, "what's that? what do you mean?" They got a kick out of that.

We passed through lots of farm country in the middle of Pennsylvania. There was a field with hundreds of grazing cows. My friend Bee (Her name was Babbette but we called her Bee--and you are right, Irma--I named one of my fictional characters in her honor.) pointed to one of the cows--"Look," she said. "There's Rich! It's both black AND white!!!"

I told this story to Irma one time and she was so amused that she started calling me Brother Cow--and it stuck.

And I LOVE IT!!!

@ BOOK Author Richard Kigel, that book with Aunt Bee in it what is its name and how does one manage to get a copy...

Misery loves company so I want more that me to become upset when they realize they are getting to the ending of this wonderful, wonderful book about the kinds of peoples/ stock "I am decendant from. lol!!! (smile)...

then...

"I" will now stop embarrassing you my shy friend...O.K....
