(Petition) An Innocent Nurse Jailed For 7 Years
According to the prosecution's star witness, Courtney Bisbee of Arizona has been in jail for seven years for something she didn't do. That star witness is 22-year-old Nik Valles, and now he's fighting to set Courtney free. Back in 2004, Courtney was convicted of two felonies for allegedly "touching" 13-year-old Jonathan Valles, who was a student at the school where Courtney was a nurse. Jonathan is Nik's brother, and Nik says that he and Jonathan both lied in court because their mother told them to.
Nik says his mom, Janette, thought that accusing Courtney of touching Jonathan and suing the wealthy school district where Courtney worked would be a good way to make money. "I can no longer sit by and watch this innocent woman spend any more time in prison for a crime she didn't commit," Nik says.
That's why Nik and his dad, Gene, started a petition on Change.org demanding that Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery grant Courtney a new trial. Please sign Nik's petition right now. Now that Nik has signed a sworn affidavit recanting his testimony and other witnesses have admitted they lied, Courtney deserves a new trial. Former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas, who prosecuted Courtney, is currently facing possible disbarment for over 30 different ethics violations stemming from other cases. Current Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery shouldn't be running from the fact that a mistake may have been made in convicting Bisbee, and thousands of signatures from concerned people around America will show him that he can't hide anymore.
Please sign Nik's petition to secure a new trial for Courtney Bisbee:
