In my area, we are so blessed as most of the mega producers here have road side stands and we have weekend markets down town and we grow our own furits and nuts and tend to trade what we don't have with friends, co-workers, church member, neghbors for what we don't have but need.
Small towns are like this. (smile)

Most of the nuts grown locally is out sourced to Germany. The nuts can be harvested by machines, but must be pruned and sorted by human hands. Unions, no...illegals, yes.(small)
