Inspirational, Peaceful, Shy and Adventurous Life of Czech's former President dies at the age of 75 at his weekend home in the northern Czech Republic. President Obama summed his life galiantly in saying: "The well favored former president is known for his peaceful resistance which shook the foundations of an empire exposed to emptiness and repressive idealogy, and proved that moral leadership i is more than any weapon." Havel was his country's first democratically elected president leading it through the early challenges of democracy and it's peaceful 1993 breakup into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He began an image of transformation for their society. Havel was also a playwright and his plays were often banned by Moscow, but he contined to work. One of his best-known essays, "The Power of the Powerless" was written in 1978. Havel spent years in jail by the government, but became a source of inspiration to Czechs and went from prisoner to president in 1989. The same year is also the fall of the Berlin's Wall and communism crumbled across the region. A child of a wealth family he was born October 5, 1936. Remembered for his inspiration. Czechs pay respects to a diligent man.
