For many black women, the "strong black woman" label is imposed upon us by necessity, not necessarily because we embrace it. Many of us don't. Find out why.

Yeah for Cheeka and I totally get what the young sistah is saying in the clip. I really don't like and have never embraced the "strong Black woman" thing. It's been out of necessity that women of color have had to stand up and do... make things happen, because there's no one else to take care of things. Totally agree with you young lady on what you have stated. I don't work full time and I also like being available for my family. Love the gloss.... need to find out what that product is because its so feminine.

It's nice to have someone to have our backs as women. I'm really glad that you have a such wonderful role models in your life that you are now able to fulfill those responsibilities that many Black men aren't able to because they simply haven't been taught how to do so. If one really thinks about it, the young sistah in the video is right.... Black women would rather have a man like the father on the "Everybody Hates Chris" where the wife can say, " I don't need this job because my husband works two jobs!" ((Lol)) Its definitely is a good thing to have that support in my opinion.
