National Events of Black History Month

It's a great look into events around the nation...

HIGHLIGHTS IN THIS ISSUE: Wonderful events nation wide are going on and in A Little Southern News you'll find a few places across the globe and the nation. You'll find some connections and maybe not? But you will find a smile and bit of poetry, history and you'll get a tip!

This edition of A Little Southern News goes to different places all around the nation, where's there's all kind of Black History Events which give us things to remember and to celebrate. The month of February is National Black History Month and cities, towns and country small and large places have events that give honor to men and women of Black History in almost every kind of expression. So since we can't attend them all in person this is one way you can tag along reading about them. There was so many, I really didn't have the capablity to give account of the thousands upon thousands celebrations nation wide. While your reading this special issue gives you excerpts from WINNIESPOETRY poems written and expressed in a Black History Program I've performed many times. All waiting.. Those slaves had a hard time, but freedom came even if many of them died in the slave trade we are free on the count of 'em.

IN BIRMINGHAM, ALA

February 09, 2012

Join together in celebrating with others as youths from middle and high school in cyber-space for the National Youth Summit of Freedom Rides and activism at the Smithsonian National Museum Freedom Rides veterans Congressman John Lewis, D-GA, Diane Nash, Jim Zwerg, and Reverend James Lawson will share how they became involved in the Freedom Rides and how their lives were affected by them. The discussion in Washington will be joined by five audiences at Smithsonian Affiliate museums around the nation as well as by registered viewers of the webcast. The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute will welcome Catherine Brooks Burks, veteran Freedom Rider to the museum to participate in the discussion and coordinate with local schools to engage students. If you want to know some mo' stuff they got goings on across other cities..conduct yo' own web search at they Smithsonian web site; cause I can only do a little bit!! Afterall, this is why it's called A Little Southern News....

You've landed right on the beach...where many of them ol' days brought slaves to they slaves masters, and where again negroes where bought and sold, but not without a heritage of music world known. "One day I'm gon have along talk wit them slaves." But, not in the earth..I bleeve in heaven." So, you know Black History has many events told and untold, from slavery, freedom, and civil rights...All part of a beautiful song we honor in Black History month. Those who attend this event will celebrate in world music. Performing with Issac and Val Woods you'll hear blues songs and R & B. It's an event Floridians and visitors will enjoy hearing...

GEEZ ! I think that's A WADE..THE WATER CHILLUNS!
