Yes. Addiction is no joke and I'm always quick to encourage people I take care of to try medication like Tylenol or Advil for pain, a warm compress for pain, or benadryl or tylenol for sleep. These things work, too.

My husband and granny were given strong narcotic for minor pain and I told them not to take them and flush them down the toilet immediately! They both found relief with Tylenol. I believe in taking medication, but medications with addictive properties are something that well meaning doctors prescribe because Pharmaceudical Reps push drugs on them ...

BE CAREFUL... It's easy to get hooked on them and addicted for a long time. I see it all the time in my practice.
