"TURNING POISON INTO MEDICINE"(The 1st bout with cancer did not defeat me, now begins pt.1 of how this bout
My tech's name was Chris and,he was so nice and patient in answering all of my questions. He put in by way of my vein, F-18 FDG or a radiated form of Glucose. After putting the F-18 into my vien, he followed it with a needle full of saline. I was then instructed to lie as still as I could for one hour. It would take an hour for the treatment to go to all parts of my body and moving around would signal to my body it needed to start useing up the Glucose...
When I had the CT scan that I already told you about, the dye they put into my body felt warm as it went from the needle into my body. Today, I felt nothing at all.
Aftre one hour I was taken to another room where the PET scan machine was and was told this test would take about 20 mins. The machine seem to be in 3 sections. On each section is written, Laser Perture then 'caution' which I used looking at to break up the bordom as they put me in and out very, very slowly, some times stoping for a short time in each section. In the centerof the middle-section of the machine, was like a section spinning around as I lay there. This was the only part taht had any thing moving on it.
Then I waited in the waiting room while they made a DVD of my scan. The report will go to my cancer doctor in a few days. The DVD, I will take to my doctor, Dr. Gill, the lung specialist tomorrow .Dr. Gill did my biopsy, but he will not be removing the cancer part of my left lung.
Now the wait until 3-9-12 when I go back to Dr. Nguyen to find out if my left lung is the onlyplace there is cancer. Will let you know the results and the next step in this bout to defeat my uninvited guest. LOL (smile)
That is it for now. (smile)
So sorry to here that the cancer has returned. You stay strong.
