The prefix word BLACK or WHITE preciding the word AMERICAN is not about a color as in the color green or blue.

The word BLACK is describing or pretaining to a race or ethinicity and not a color.

For example, as in Chiniese American or African American the word Chinese or African is pretaining to the rrace or ethinicity of the people idoit.
