BEYOND TRAYVON....
Tell me why is it that only deceased BLACK youth brings such outrage? why IS THERE UPROAR WHEN ITS NOT Black on Black violence? Michael Baisden where is your outrage for baby Jesse? Where is the outcry for rape victims? The MANY young Black boys/girls killed b4 and after Trayvon? Beyond Trayvon is to just point out the hypocrites in the community, its not about unity..its about certain people trying to a;ways use community tragedy as personal opportunity.
Amen Sister April! I see black people talking so much smack right now about what they will do about Trayvon...Trayvon's already dead (may he rest in peace) and yes, it is sad that he had to die the way he did, but come on folks, we have to go beyond Trayvon.
Hell, I saw what black men did about Troy Davis who was still alive...NOT A DAMN THING! When I sent out an email getting people to sign the online petition to stop his execution (which I had a feeling wouldn't work but it was still important to get the word out) it was easier to get WHITE people to sign it than BLACK men. Not because they thought it was ineffective- but because they didn't CARE.
I love black men, I really do. But as far as respect goes on a broad level.... not so much. I was asked a couple of weeks ago where my respect was for black men on a scale from 1-10. I was told to not include my significant other and not to answer based on the level of respect I show men, but deep inside, how much do I respect them? I answered about a 5... maybe.
Why? Because so many of our black men are blaming women for their failures and because of the black men's refusal to get off their asses and do what a bird, ant or any other animal does in regards to securing their communities and families. I want to have a strong respect for black men, not only for their innate gifts, but for their strength as well. I do hope one day that enough will be enough and they will straighten their backs up.
