OK, I know, no big insight there, right? But I make that incredibly obvious observation to make this point – most people do not start out with the intention of starting an emotional affair. They want to hit and run !!

I agree. In my first/last marriage, I was smacked with this realization. Although s*xual contact may not be a issue the fact that you've allowed another person to step in the role of that with your spouse should be steers the situation to be an emotional affair. NOW, I'm attempting to overstand this to my current bf/future hubby... we'll see how this goes prayerfully.
