Dhubri, India

At least 103 people perished during a storm aboard a ferry traveling along the Brahmaputra river in Dhubri, India. The ferry was caught in a storm which caused the small boat to break in half and sink. Many swam ashore, as others did not make the journey died. Death tolls grow as divers and rescuers surf underwaters to recover bodies unaccounted for. Passengers and surviors describing the accident said that many of the passengers were swept away by the strong river's current during the storm. The overcrowed ferry was not equipped to handle the heavy commuters of over 200 people; and many had no life jackets or many boats like this one are not up to safety standards for their passengers often travel without lifeboats.

~) Prayers for and thanks for many who recovered and families who suffered losses.
