The family teaches
The break down of the family has caused monumential destruchion in many ways, but the greatest is the lack of teaching that comes from just being a part of a family. All members of the family are important. Some people discount the father and think that only his money is important. But that is not true. The father teacher everybody in the family what a man is and what he does.
He is a little girl's first love. All other men are measured by her father. He teaches her what and who to look for. From him, comes her first taste of a man's love. The mother teaches the son how to love a female and what to look for in a live's mate. She teaches the daughter how to be a real woman and not just a female. She teaches how to nuture her husband and her off spring. She is the rafters that holds the roof in placel.
The father teaches the boy how to be a man, how to live up to his responsibillities, how to protect his own and how to provide for the ones he loves . He is the frame work the roof, the pillars that holds the structure together. He is the safe harbor.
God established the family to produce and protect human life from the beginning to the end. The family is the cradle of life and love. It is through the family that potential is developed and nutured.

I couldn't agree with you more and I think that the family is still very important as it was the very first Institution that God created and it exists for the reason you stated.
