I LOOK TO YOU by Whitney Houston

As I lay me down
Heaven hear me now
I’m lost without a cause
After giving it my all

Winter storms have come
And darkened my sun
After all that I’ve been through
Who on earth can I turn to?

Chorus:
I look to you,
I look to you
After all my strength is gone
In you I can be strong
I look to you,
I look to you
And when melodies are gone In you I hear a song
I look to you

About to lose my breath
There's no more fighting left
Sinking to rise no more
Searching for that open door

And every road that I've taken
Led to my regret
And I don't know if I'm go'n make it
Nothing to do but lift my head

Chorus:

My leeves are broken
My walls are coming down on me
My rain is falling
Defeat is calling
I need you to set me free
Take me far away from the battle
I need you
Shine on me!

Chorus:

I Look to You is the sixth and final studio album by Whitney Houston. Released in 2009 it debuted on the U.S.Billboard at number one, beating her previous career best first-week sale for Just Whitney... (2002). It was her first album to reach number one since 1992's The Bodyguard. It became her fourth chart-topping album thus extending her lead as the female artist with the most cumulative weeks at the number one position.

Since its release, I Look to You has gone on to sell 2.5 million units worldwide, earning platinum certification in seven countries and gold certification in eight.

Whitney said that the album reflects her emotional state and chronicles events in her personal life since her last musical release in 2002.

"That makes it real,” she said. “The changes that we go through, the transitions that we go through, the tests that we go through, being a mother, becoming a single mother. It all had its ups and its downs, but for the most part, I kept my faith and I kept my head up... I took my time. All the triumphs and the ups and downs and stuff, it's all incorporated on the album, and hopefully not only does it inspire me, but inspires a whole lot of other people."

By 2009, Whitney Houston's voice had changed, becoming deeper and huskier, lending emotional intensity and gravity.

The single I Look to You was written by R. Kelly.

Yeah, you can really hear how the songbird's golden voice deepened and mellowed. She sounds more mature, more worldly and wise.

But it is the passion and heartwrenching authenticity that pours out of her. She is always REAL!!!

The first time I heard this song was when Whitney performed it on the Oprah show. You could feel the emotion and passion...very touching song.

Yes, that's our Nippy!!!

To me, this song is a prayer...the emotion she brings to it and the words themselves...it is a sacred call for Help from the Almighty!!!
