The Muslim Brotherhood candidate took office on Monday June 25, 2012 after being elected to the office in the election held on Sunday June 24, 2012. This was Egypt's first free election in its history. Newly President Mohamed Morsi took his office seat on Monday June 25, 2012 which was once occupied by ousted president Hosni Mubarak. President Morsi defeated Mubarak's prime minister Ahmed Shafig. Morsi is a 60 year U.S. trained engineer and is not experienced in deep connections of polictics, but in his first speech he has indicated his call for national unity and swore to be a "president for all Egyptians." The Egyptian people felt a sigh of relief upon his winning the election even though many were skeptic that violence would erupt because of his election win.
Unity sounds promising...
