The XIX International AIDS Conference ended on July 27, 2012 in Washington, D.C. with potential hope with medical cures. Public health leaders and scientists are constantly developing experimental drugs will find ways to finally cure the disease. Chief of the Joint United Nation Program on HIV/AIDS, or UNAIDS stated the "A cure for AIDS could be found within 10 years." This all stems from the successful cure of one patient and other substantial evidence of breakthroughs. The theme for the conference focused on one man's cure being the launch of a new effort in the fight against aids. This week's conference studies showed the the cure is advancing as the patient with HIV had no sign of resurgence in their infection when taken off the the antiretrovial drugs. Normally, studies have shown that ARV's suppress the HIV virus and once the drug is discontinued in therapy the virus resurges. Although research has made a outstanding resistant in antiAIDS help drugs, much more research and development still remains. A cure for AIDS has moved one step closer as scientists found that a common cancer drug can purge the disease as it lies dormant in the body. The conference attendees celebrated the news of potential HIV/AIDS cures as the conferences concur a unity to encourage positive living for those infected nationally and world wide. Additionally, scientists are in a long-term public health to keep AIDS awareness active in saftey; as the epidemic research moves to long and even short term healing.
