FOOD FOR THOUGHT: WHY DO SOME PEOPLE ADDRESS PRIESTS AS "FATHER"?
Peace To All:
In the Bible in Matthew 23:9 it reads, “Call no one on earth your father; you have but one Father in heaven.”
Yet, Jesus quotes Moses and the Decalogue in Mark 7:10, “Honor your father and your mother.”
My question is if the Bible instruct us NOT to call anyone ‘father’ why do some of our Brothers and Sisters address Priests as such??

Is it really a nickname for priests (i.e. a term of endearment)?
