And it was a damn unusual heat wave, and lengthy at that. And now it is a about 20 degrees cooler. All of a sudden, just like that. Yet when I have commented on this to people I've been told this is normal for end of Sept, beginning Oct. Not 100+ day after day it's not! We get that in July and August. I've lived here too long not to see the difference. Plus here (as is not the case in many other areas of the country) all we need to do is LOOK UP to see what is happening!

And my son just started a new job at one of those processing plants!

He works for Diamond Foods, so yes he is doing the nuts processing. I do believe they operate year round as they package many different things.

As to are they union, I will need to ask him.

Me, I will not say anyone is cooking the unemployment books...but, things have to make sense to me....

fall is harvest time and more employment is expected, right...why not it being up laxt fall when there were crops to be worked that don't even exist tis year due to the droughts all over the nation, plus california had workers up teh yeng yeng and tis year they are begging for workers...it makes no sense at least to me. (smile)

...since every thing causes a chain reaction then the canneies/ factories who process the foods don't work, prices go up and businessz cut back on workers, ect all addd up to less people being employed not more being employed. (smile)

@Steve sure hope is is union as most of them have moved down south.I also hope he works at one open year around. Most here are only open a few months a year and maybe until after Nov to reprocess the products for winter storage.Oh, yes, th enuts are now to be processed also. (smile)
