BLACK BUSINESS OWNER VENTS ABOUT NOT BEING SUPPORTED BY THE COMMUNITY

Yes, we have to do better in supporting our own business. At the end of this month a black owned fitness center closing because of lack of support from our community.

I believe in supporting Black businesses, but too often the worst thing many Black businesses are guilty of is nepotism.

Too often Black owners have a habit of hiring family and friends to operate thier businesses instead of the MOST QUALIFIED people, and because of that their establishments are often staffed by unqualified people.

EXAMPLE: Your aunt has a son who just got out of jail and needs a job so she begs you to hire him and make you feel bad if you don't.

OTHER EXAMPLE: You're operating a dry cleaners and instead of hiring professional cleaners you hire that fine sister you've been trying to get with for 3 years and give her a job hoping she'll give you some S-E-X.

Nepotism and lack of professionalism is the downfall of a lot of Black businesses

this is true ,,,how about ''once you get rich you turn you nose up at the same people that got you there''..so black people rather give there money to the white man who they know don't give a damn about black people ,,,,,

...If Blacks are 'poor'...can they afford to shop inBlack owned business' over say a Walmart or any other chain stores that they can buy both milk and bread and not just milk or bread? (smile)...

Me, "I" always go out of my way to support our own...and, when I say go out of my way, I mean to Oakland and since locally we have no Black owned business, acrosss the river where we do have a few...
