Just return from voting. My two sons ages 12 & 7 went with me as they always do to put another mark on their experience of history. They immediately notice this was not like before, when we dashed in, I cast my ballot, and we darted out. This time we waited 3 hrs at the polling site, lines where long, quiet, and the sprits of the crowd resonated throughout.
We saw wheel chair bound, canes, walkers, and ages from first time voters to our golden saints 90 years plus. A very moving and appreciative experience.
Two things that do not help us.
Early voting.
Early election results.
James, to stand in line for 3 hours, with your sons age 12 & 7? I commend you. I doubt I would have such patience.

It was well worth the wait, in fact when they woke up this morning first thing they wanted to know did President Obama win. For African/Black American children it’s a confirmation of what can be done if hold true to your values, and do not allow others to sway you.

...and James as I was just telling Rich on one of his post how out here on eh west coast it will be 4-5pm here when the polls close on the east coast and in the gulf states. (smile)
Ca. is so Blue and so Liberal we alreday know our president will be getting our 55 electoral votes which has spared us all of those last days of needing to overwhelm us with last minute political ads...
Yes James our children are our future...and, what you said is another prefect example of allowing the powers taht be to believe they are the experts on us helps us to survive...THESE EXPERTS ON WE GIVE IN TO VOTER SUPRESSION HAVE ONCE AGAIN BEEN PROVEN W-R-O-N-G ONCE AGAIN!
