ANTIBOTICS RESISTANCE GROWING HEALTH THREAT

Miisrael, this is a serious problem. But I don't think lawmakers can solve it, as Dr. Frieden suggests. I think we will have to rely on the medical community, and in my experience doctors are generally responsible about prescribing these meds.

The same cannot be said about the livestock industry though.

Steve I don't think law makers can do very much about this either. Making laws to control over writing precriptions would be hard to maintain as far as laws that would govern such actions as writing over prescriptions. And too... Medical companies are enjoying giving away samples of meds already. I think the medical community and the individual will be best at learning ways to allow their heath and immunity systems to begin making cures like it should especially when anitbotics can damage their system to fight things off naturally. It's allowing the healing process to do it's normal thing and heal. So many people really need to de-tox from taking a pill or a liquid to cure every little sniffle or sneeze. As far as livestock, I'm not sure if much can be done except perhaps having experts keep a close watch on owners and farmers to follow basic rules to protect our meat and produce guidelines rules. No one wants bacterial meats...

There's really something to what we used to do in the 'olden days' by fighting some of these things naturally with large amounts of Vitamin C and other types of remedies.
Norway have almost nil problems with antibiotic resistance because doctors there don't prescribe antibiotics for everything!

Additionally, this is a serious problem but not a new one. Over many years now people and doctors have been allowed to abuse prescription medications. Now, the results are in that the too much meds can cause more damage than good if it's over prescribed, over-medicated, and lastly over-kill. What about going back to some home remedies?

Jen, that's great information. It has to start with cutting back and returning to some old ways. Cutting back, and finally being free to allow the body to do it's natural healing process. Eating better, resting or sleeping and even keeping a clean enviornment at home and away. Common practices.

I don't need lawmakers to be involved in this problem. Let them work on fixing the deficit and the economic troubles of this Nation and we citizens should exercise some good First Aide when it comes cuts, injuries, and whatknot before these things turn into something aloty worse.

Here! Here! You've landed a true statement. Law makers do need to deal with some economic woes. Right on!! I think this latest health threat might just open some doors to practical prevention. Otherwise, we will see it how worse it can become..

Absolutely! I don't take medications 'Any-Kinda-How' just because the doctor is prescribing them nor do I allow my family. It's sad that the pharmaceudical industry and their piped 'reps' dictate the tune these days.

I'm adding more and more natural supplements, and they work. I don't do this all at once because of possible interactions with prescription meds (well and the cost too). There are certain common deficiencies and these were the first I addressed. Ubiquinol is one that is depleted as we age, but also with the use of statins. But it can also interact with warfarin, as can two others I've started, garlic and a pain remedy that contains willow bark extract. So one must do their homework.

Steve, natural remedies are great. I don't take any medications as I cook with natural herbs spices including garlic. Wouldn't say I'm proned to taking natural supplements but I do believe they have healthy benefits as you said if you do your homework.

Ah, cooking. There's something I need to spend more time on.
