YOUR NATIONAL NEWS
NOVEMBER 2012
Day 15
Irving, TX

Union strikers of the popular cake bakers of Hostess Twinkies are given an ultimatum to return back to work by Thursday, November 20, 2012 or the Hostess company will plan to shut it’s manufacturer’s doors for good. The cake owners have requested from the U.S. Bankruptcy judge permission to liquidate if not enough workers on strike do not return to work by the end of Thursday and resume it’s normal operations. This is following striking workers with the Bakery Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union. Workers from Hostess plants across the country have gone on strike or refused to cross picket lines since November 09, 2012 to protest pay cuts and benefits cuts from the Hostess manufacturer. It was reported that the Texas based company previously reached an agreement on pay and benefit cuts with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union. However, since then strikers around the nation have not surrendered their protests. Hostess CEO, Gregory Rayburn has expressed in a statement that there is not enough financial resources to survive an ongoing national strike and if workers have not returned to work by Friday, November 23, 2012 it will result in employee firing and if the bankruptcy judge approves the request to liquidate. The company has 565 distribution centers, 570 bakery and outlets stores and 33 other bakeries.

I adore Twinkies!
