YOUR NATIONAL WEATHER
JANUARY 2013
DAY 23

That old man winter has released a blow that's freezing many states. Temperatures are at its coldest this January 2013 as winter storms and cold snaps cover over 15 states. Below zero temperatures nail with icy cold days as many residents across the Northeastern battle the frigid. Cold and windy conditions in Ohio has caused several highway piles up and accidents. In Chicago, New York the weather is also cold. The winter snap has also claimed the lives of at least four persons. More colder days await as the winter man hinges a tie in to drag along slowly.

It's a cold snap,
that's that Old man winter..

That's not good for the oranges is it?

Cynthia Merrill Artis Wednesday, January 23rd 2013 at 12:19PM

oh... our Oranges do rather well in this weather!!!

in South Florida extreme cold weather is harder on the Orange Crops.... Central and South Florida doesn't really get that cold... 30's 40's about the lowest....

In North Florida where I am it gets very cold... 20's and Upper Teens...

Hmm, I wouldn't have thought it. I spoke to my mom in PA yesterday and it was 13 which is cold for there.

Hi Steve! Here it's about 28 degrees. Cold with overcast of clouds. Only last Thursday our weather was warm around 70 for the high.

Cynthia oranges don't well with frost bite do they?

Steve Williams Wednesday, January 23rd 2013 at 12:38PM

Tallahassee is a Hilly Terraine we're higher above sea level.... In addition the southern tip is closer to the equator..

NO... frost isn't good for our Oranges (although Florida Oranges produce thicker hulls (skin)

Cynthia Merrill Artis Wednesday, January 23rd 2013 at 6:26PM

arthur... arthritis.... LOL!!!

MIISRAEL Bride Wednesday, January 23rd 2013 at 7:37PM

Bee, I know what a" hull" is..LOL! Even though I haven't heard the term in a while. I am tickled! I guess I'm in a giggly mood. Thick hulls sometimes make those oranges sweet or the can cause them to be kinda dry. My mother used do something with orange hulls, I forgot what it was, but I know she would collect them and hang them air dry for several months. If I think of it I let you know.

Diane, I was rubbing my fingers earlier while they were cold, perhaps I can blame that on both those old men.

Y'all the temperatures in Memphis has changed from low 20's all day; and now it's about 52 degrees. We have strange weather. There's nothing like Memphis weather.

Irma..don't want to plant anything yet. I'll be disappointed to see the frost ice them...LOL!
