Burger King Admits It May Have Served Horse Meat Burgers (Oops!)

Well, well, well. Looks like Burger King was not above the horse-meat-in-beef-products scandal that hit the U.K. about two weeks ago.

After weeks of denying that their products were tainted, Burger King finally admitted that new tests have shown that there were "very small trace levels of equine DNA" from a Silvercrest plant, the Daily Mail reports.

The fast-food chain had originally said they were completely positive that their products were not involved, but it eventually found four samples with horse DNA. "Within the last 36 hours, we have established that Silvercrest used a small percentage of beef imported from a non-approved supplier in Poland," a representative said. Silvercrest, which is part of ABF Food Group, also provided tainted burgers for Tesco, Asda, and the Co-op

None of this was corporate's fault, they say (obviously). Instead, they blame the meat providers, who promised to deliver "100 percent British and Irish beef patties and have not done so." Naturally, that relationship is dunzo.
