The Honour of Mother in AlIslaam

a man came to the Prophet of Allaah(saw) and asked:

"O Messenger of Allaah, who is the person who has the GREATEST right on me with regards to kindness and attention?" He replied: "Your Mother." "Then Who?" He replied: "Your Mother." "Then who?" He replied: Your Mother." "Then who?" He replied: "Your Father." (Ahmad and Abu Dawud)

AlQur'aan also discusses the immense honor and respect due to both parents, and especially to mother:

XXXI
In the Name of Allâah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

1. Alif-Lâm-Mîm.

2. These are Verses of AlQur’âan.

3. A guide and a mercy for the Muhsinûun (doers of good).

4. Those who perform As-Salât (Iqamat AsSalât) and give Zakât and they have faith in the Hereafter with Certainty.

5. Such are on guidance from their Rabbee, and such are the Successful.

6. And of Mankind is he who purchases idle talks; to mislead men from the Path of Allâah without knowledge, and takes the Path of Allâah, or the Verses of AlQur’âan-- by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment.
