Do African Americans care about the gay marriage issue?
In the past week we have been slammed over the heads with coverage of The Supreme Court taking up a case involving DOMA. Now I personally don't care who one marries. As I tell my gay friends, "If you idiots want to join the rest of us suffering married fools then come on."
But seriously I haven't heard much serious talk from average people on the issue. Sure we know what supposed Christian pastors and reverends think but I always wonder do the majority of their congregations feel the same way.
Are you for or against gay marriage or do you just not care? Take our poll here: http://aareports.com/2013/03/do-african-am...
I won't take the poll at the link, but will say that definitley there are many African Americans that have been heavily engaged in the fight for Marriage Equality especially where it will lower their insurance premiums among other things. If you turn on the television and watch the news one will see African American men and women among those in favor of D.O.M.A. Black folk aren't exempt from the cause of Gay marriage. Perhaps your friends, Mr. Cook are being polite or perhaps are scared to speak up but I'm sure in their own circles of other Gays they are for marriage equality.
