Question to Reggie Culpepper? Explain how a person can comment on a blog and not sign-in for several days?

A person stays on the list as long as there is activity more frequent than the timeout used by the system. I don't know what the value of that timeout is, but if I am online in the evening I will normally be online in the morning, so it must be at least 10 hours or so. I periodically clear my cache, and when the cookie is discarded I need to sign back in. But if I didn't do that I could stay logged in for days.

I have an iMac and it stays turned on round the clock, unless I leave for a day or two. So I just stay logged in unless I clear the cache.

Or power off, I think.

So activity driven is the lithmus test?
Okay I have a Ipad but don't use it much on this site.
But I will test run it for a trial.

I would like to hear Culpepper's explaination too????

Saint, I figured out the issue with why it appears that someone is using my account when I'm logged out. Sometimes, I leave BIA up on my PC and log in and out from another PC when I'm in the library or I log in and out from my I-Pad. Does that sound plausible?

Are you still logged in on your main PC while using the other ones for access?

It was there Robert, I remember seeing it. If you go back far enough you'll find it, but you have to wade through all the real fake profiles that are still being generated for unknown reasons. Reggie's problem, not mine.

I see no evidence of anyone hacking profiles. Charmell deleted herself. I have no idea what happened to Mozell but I have no reason to doubt admin's saying it was a mistake. Don't know what happened to Miisrael's material either.

But if someone is hacking the system, I seriously doubt it's for purposes of changing profile information, deleting blogs, or impersonating someone. If I were Reggie, I'd be concerned about the intent of the fake profiles that are being computer generated. He could solve that like many other account setup forms do, by requiring a codeword that is only human readable be entered at account setup time. His business.

The answer to your question is no. I've never hacked a system, though I have probed systems that were probing me. That however is not hacking.

Actually that explainatiion makes perfectly good sense to me. My system is slow so when I have to log in and log out it seems like it takes FOREVER which is the reason I was leaving it up. But I think its probably better to shut down though.

In that case Jen, yes I would shut down. But the question is, why is your system slow? There could be lots of reasons. System performance can degrade from running out of disk space to spyware to someone taking over your system.
