22nd and Market Streets..

Crumbling, rumbling and tumbling down. This was the sight on June 05, 2013 as a Salvation Army Thrift Store Building fell down when the building next door was being demolished. No one expected the accidental falling, but it happened killing at least 6 people in the thrift store and 13 reported injured. Witnesses said they thought it was another terrorist attack as the roof and everything fell and over the store. Crews on site next door were working diligently with safety to demolish the next door structure when it took an unexpected falling turn and landed down on top of the next building. Some inside the store only suffered minor injuries and a woman was saved from the tumbler's rubble after spending some 10 to 12 hours underneath debris. Rescue teams worked throughout the night to find others, and team experts continued to evaluate what went wrong.

Sending prayers, and sympathy...

That's so sad. There was a man from Liberia who was 68 killed in that building. He'd just spoken with his wife about 15 minutes before the building came down. My heart and prayers go out to all the families affected. God help them at their time of loss.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a crane operator in connection with a deadly building collapse in Philadelphia, a law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation told CNN. The warrant was issued on charges that include involuntary manslaughter, the source said, identifying the man as a crane operator who was helping tear down a building Wednesday when a wall collapsed on a thrift store. Six people died and 13 were injured in the collapse.

Inspector Who Surveyed Building Prior To Philadelphia Collapse Commits Suicide, Officials Say

PHILADELPHIA — A veteran inspector who surveyed a downtown building weeks before it collapsed, killing 6 people, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound a week after the accident, authorities said Thursday.

Ronald Wagenhoffer, 52, was found shot in the chest in a pickup truck around 9 p.m. Wednesday. A longtime employee with the Department of Licenses and Inspections, Wagenhoffer had inspected the building May 14 and signed off on demolition work underway, after getting complaints about the site from the public, Deputy Mayor Everett Gillison said.

Department employees were informed of the death Thursday morning. Wagenhoffer was a 16-year city employee who had started with the Department of Public Property and worked his way up through the ranks to building inspector, according to city officials. He had worked until 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Jen this is truly sad. He must of felt so much guilt to take his own life. I know he never meant it to happen, and he just probably couldn't bare to live with the pain. That's awful I will pray for his love ones to have strength.

I bet there were those who were after him to quit due to politics and lawsuits!

MIISRAEL Bride Saturday, June 15th 2013 at 11:04AM

I'm sure that may be very likely. People are so quick to blame even situations beyond a person's control.

Ain't that the truth!
