"Do not curse the king, even in your thought;
Do not curse the rich, even in your bedroom;
For a bird of the air may carry your voice
And a bird in flight may tell the matter..."
[Proverbs 10:20]

OWLS ARE SAID TO BE WISE BIRDS...

WHEN VOICES CARRY;
SHOW LOVE
IN EVERY SPOKEN OR UNSPOKEN MATTER.

Irma Gurl! These crazy owls around here WHOO in the day time too! I can hear them around on certain days; quite often. Although they are nocturnal all that WHOOing in the day may cause me to take a nap, or want to find them and throw a rock! Ha! No, I wouldn't hurt them, they are beautiful birds!

Wonder where they got the connection with wisdom?

Not being a perfect scholar I did find a few clues of the understanding of owls being part of culture and folklore, and along with Greek mythology. The owl also represented in children stories as being the wisest and feared bird, being associated with the night and forewarning evil or; in some folklores protectors from evil. Over the centuries, the owl character connection became more to reveling wise sayings, and became an iconic symbol of power and knowledge. Although what I read was only a tip of the connection. I did discover some secrets of the wise night bird. Many times the bird's association was with men and or women who didn't understand the mystery of the bird's secret life, and the association of it's nature. Being that the eyes of the owl glows at night, some thought the bird was itself an omen of evil things. Scientists have studied the owls nightly pattern learning some of its hunting pattern and nesting habits. There was also the owl's association on Greek coins, and tribal Indians also gave some tendencies to the owl mystic to give symbols of things to come. It was an interesting quick read. Enjoyed it though. Most of this information came from internet sites, anyone interested can probably find out more details. Never to old to learn.
