DEAR GARDENERS
AUG 2013

Dear Gardeners:

The hot days of summer has our gardens and plants ending their reaps of flourishing. Although you may still see blooms at their peak, there in the secret life of plants develops a mechanism of shutting down their engines. Since I've even noticed my own blooming plants as they are-- I can tell they have their own biological clocks ticking to prepare to go into hibernating.

While you still can enjoy the reaps of your blooms and the gift of your vegetables. Tomatoes are getting very ripe around now so make the use of them in salads all by themselves. Many just slice them up, add seasonings for taste then take and dive in with teeth! I just received an abundance of tomatoes from a wonderful garden grower and I was in delight. Can't wait to make that tomato salad....Yummy!

If you're in the pruning period of your garden, it's a good time for that. Make sure you prune at a angle; or a slant and that you keep a good fullness around your shrubs and bushes. The lawn however, around my side of town is growing like crazy! Every week -- even twice a week you'll find grass is growing! Still, enjoying your fruit trees may be your harvesting.

Peaches! ripe and juicy makes your mouths water...I believe. LOL!

Take up time to continue your ending flourishing, invite a neighbor, or friend over. Share tea, coffee, give them a bouquet, or, some your vegetable garden's share. They'll just flourish you with thanks and smiles.

So with all this, I will end this letter. I think of you. Really I do. I will write next month.

So tell me how does your gardens grow?

I'd surely like to know..

Mine grows with

LOTS OF LOVE

Irma, are you canning and freezing up your harvests? Did your veggie garden do well this year. Many around my town didn't do well this year. Late tomatoes and greens were early. Fruits did better though we had delicious peaches, watermelons and cantaloupes.

Moving your garden may help. Different location might increase produce. I'm not planting fall, I have some marigolds which are looking good. They are beautiful one is red and the other white. They bloomed late fall last year and it got cold before they finished their cycle.

Peaches! They are good. Glad those birds decided to allow you to keep your grapes.
Good sharing with neighbors. Dearest Irma that's down right sweet like grapes.

No, I don't think I've tasted Japanese cucumbers. I may look around and see if they are sold here or at any of the Farmer's Market. Crisp!
