Despite the fact that the name is undeniably racist, Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder refuses to change it. This week, Eni Faleomavaega, the congressional delegate from American Samoa, spoke passionately about the horrific history behind the slur and why those who defend Snyder are wrong.
Washington D.C.’s City Paper has said it will no longer use the name, and as Up with Steve Kornacki guest and co-host of the Cycle Krystal Ball said, even fans struggle with embarrassment. How can football viewers convince the NFL to make a change when it already takes other forms of racial insensitivity seriously?
