Strong 6.9 earthquake struck Guatemala City on Monday, July 7, 2014 destroying some buildings interiors and exteriors. In addition three lives perished in the strong quake. Without any warning to prepare the earthquake occurred around 6:30 a.m. Mexico time. One of the fatal deaths was a new born infant who perished at the hospital baby ward when the roof collapsed. In addition there were other fatalities but this one happened in Guatemala. Also there were at least 33 people injured as well. The quake crumbled many homes and caused power outages to many in the area and surrounding residents. In the city of Chiapas many frantic residents ran into the streets to escape harm and some were treated for minor wounds.
