Florida coast and beaches and waters are being invaded with a toxic red tide which has caused concerned over sea life. According to recent news printed in the Orlando Sentinel red tide occurs when Karenia brevis, a microscopic algae multiplies in rapid numbers. The algae produces toxic agents which threatens and kills ocean life and species of fish. The red tide attacks the nervous system has caused death to over 1,000 sea creatures this year according to Florida Fish Wildlife Conservation Commission. Although the toxins are not fatal to humans, some symptoms may be associated with the red waters such as asthma, emphysema or may in addition, cause skin rashes. This year has been one of the largest population of the algae in ten years. Often the appearing of the red tide is unpredictable and very little control of the algae's growth can not be determined.
