Tragic news of compromising and bright upcoming baseball player of the St Louis Cardinals perished in a car accident in his home country of the Dominion Republic. Oscar Taveras died in a car crash along with his girlfriend Edilla Arvello.
Taveras played part-time outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals and this was his debut season. His season record was .239 in 80 games. Over the past years Taveras was ranked and third best prospect in the minor leaques.
The car accident was said to be from rain and road conditions. Investigations of the accident is still undergoing.
Edila Arvello was 18 and Traveras was 22 years of age.
