Outbreak of measles cases are still spreading across the United States.  On Thursday, February 04, 2015 five more infants in Chicago were reported having measles contracted at a suburban day care.   These cases are not be linked with the day care, officials are making the public aware that more cases of the disease could spread.  The news source indicated that the five infants were too young to receive the vaccine.  In the interim, the day care has not reopened since the cases were involved. 

Measles is a respiratory disease that can cause severe health complications, including pneumonia, encephalitis and in rare cases death.   Transimited by contact the measles is spread with an infected person through coughing, sneezing and can remain air borne and on surfaces for to two hours.

A spread of the disease was traced to Disneyland in California in December has grown over more 100 new cases spreading across the U.S.  Health concerns over vaccines increased and some parents are still refusing to have their children receive the vaccine.    The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicans all recommend that get get their first dose of the vaccine at 12 to 15 months, and the second shot at the ages of 4 to 6 years old.

As the measles outbreak spreads there will be likely be more cases each day.  Since unvaccinated children are among the most vunerable the outbreak may continue for an indefinate time.
