A massive clean up project is on it way in Alaska as tons of garbage and trash are being hauled away on barges to recycling and landfills. The huge bundle of trash compacted is from the 2011 tsunami which stuck Japan and left trails of trash roaming around it oceans and shores. Since collections begin over the 2013-2014 year tons of debris will headed and hauled away on barges. Estimated cost of the project will be at least $3.1 million dollars and the barge costs will run around $17,000 dollars a day. The massive clean up is a enviormental move to clean up waterways and shorelines in Alaska. The recyled trash will be shipped to recyling centers in Seattle, and Oregon. Alaska spokeman said speaking of the debris..."It never goes away unless we get there and actually remove it." Chris Pallister is the president of clean up group Gulf of Alaska Keeper which coordinating the clean up project.
