Police responding to a 911 call in Charleston, West Virginia, had no idea what they were about to discover after a woman reported shooting and killing a man in self-defense in her home.

Upon searching the man’s car, police discovered this “kill kit” in his trunk:

According to Fox 12, 45-year-old Neal Falls of Oregon met the young woman, who’s in her 20s, by responding to her ad as an escort on Backpage.com. She has asked that her name be withheld.

When the woman first opened the door for Falls, he immediately pointed a gun at her stomach and told her “live or die”, according to the Charleston Gazette-Mail. After a 10-15 minute struggle, the young woman grabbed for a nearby rake to fend him off.

She describes what happens next:

“He strangled me…and so I grabbed my rake and when he laid the gun down to get the rake out of my hands, I shot him. I just grabbed the gun and shot behind me.”

The shot was fatal for Falls, who had some truly horrific things planned for the woman. Police say the supplies in Falls’ trunk included a shovel, bleach, mud-covered boots, a machete, knives, handcuffs, sledgehammers, several axes and a bulletproof vest – in addition to the gun he brought into the young woman’s home.

Though no official connection has been reported, police believe Falls may been involved with the cases of six missing women – some of which have also been linked to prostitution – from nearby Chillicothe, Ohio, just a few miles from Charleston.

The most chilling detail: Four of the missing women have been found dead.
