HOW PRESIDENT OBAMA JOINED A TOWN HALL DISCUSSION TO FIND SOLUTIONS TO POLICING

“Faced with this violence, we wonder if the divides of race in America can ever be bridged. We wonder if an African-American community that feels unfairly targeted by police, and police departments that feel unfairly maligned for doing their jobs, can ever understand each other’s experience ... But, Dallas, I’m here to say we must reject such despair. I’m here to insist that we are not as divided as we seem.”
— President Obama at a memorial service for fallen officers in Dallas, Texas on July 12, 2016.

In light of the recent events across the country, the President has renewed his call for communities across the country to identify ways to keep people safe, build community trust, and ensure justice for all Americans. The President is calling on law enforcement agencies, local governments, and advocates to take specific steps that will help communities across America move forward in rebuilding the public’s trust in our institutions.

Central to this effort is implementing the recommendations of the Task Force on 21st Century Policing, which President Obama established in December 2014 and charged with examining how to strengthen public trust and foster strong relationships between local law enforcement and the communities they protect, while also promoting effective crime reduction.

Over the coming months, communities across the country will be coming together to discuss these issues and take action in these and other ways. The White House hosted one such convening on July 13 to identify practical steps that all stakeholders can take.

I think the police should go on strike. 24 hours should do it.

Steve Williams Saturday, July 16th 2016 at 3:57PM

Who would want such a job anyway?

Harry Watley Saturday, July 16th 2016 at 4:01PM

Ms. Agnes,

Pres. Obama's search for a solution is not forthcoming since people A cannot police people B. People B must police people B and people A must police people A.

Black leaders are just two eye wink away from realizing that our only permanent solution is that Black Americans must come into our own country.

Harry Watley Saturday, July 16th 2016 at 4:04PM

Mr. Williams,

You have always been wrong about Black Americans. It is understandable because you are not a Black American.

24 hour strike is not the solution! The only permanent solution is that Black Americans must have and will have our own country as I have described before I pass away. I speak the words of God!

I can't be wrong because anyone with any sense can see Black Americans isn't very much need of comments from under the abuse and human degradation of your White American people.

Again, the Greatest USA PRESIDENT ever, Baraaka Hussein Obama is the American Change Standard for the 21st Century

Thank you Agnes for bringing this Important aspect of American Community Safety.....

"......I think the police should go on strike. 24 hours should do it...."

as ALWAYS his comments at BIA, are meant to harm the African American Family

as the NYC Police Guidelines and most Departments mirror the Policing Mission.....

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, reduce fear, and maintain order. The Department is committed to accomplishing its mission to protect the lives and property of all citizens of New York City by treating every citizen with courtesy, professionalism, and respect, and to enforce the laws impartially, fighting crime both through deterrence and the relentless pursuit of criminals.

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY, WE PLEDGE TO:

•Protect the lives and property of our fellow citizens and impartially enforce the law.
•Fight crime both by preventing it and by aggressively pursuing violators of the law.
•Maintain a higher standard of integrity than is generally expected of others because so much is expected of us.
•Value human life, respect the dignity of each individual and render our services with courtesy and civility.

**********************************************************************

I am reminded of 1980 WHEN President Ronald Reagan....FIRED ALL USA air traffic controllers.....

------- He placed them with National Guard and Military....IMMEDIATELY

and then HIRED BETTER, those that wanted to do their JOBS correctly for the Common Good....

President Baraaka Hussein Obama SHOULD fire any USA POLICE DEPARTMENT that DOES NOT receive the OK, and partners with its Community......

------ the LAW is for the People, NOT for the PoLice.....

steveAdam comment is TYPICALLY stereotypical BAD IDEA of policing......

------ POLICE need their JOBS, and are PAID by the CITIZENS.....At the PLEASURE of the CITIZENS......

Mr. Whatley, you are a cowardly blocker.

Steve Williams Saturday, July 16th 2016 at 6:06PM

Robert, I'd like to see Obama on the beat.

Harry Watley Saturday, July 16th 2016 at 11:07PM

Mr. Williams,

Please say something that is of value! Criticism is not anything of value. Your criticism express that I have gotten the best of you.
If you continue to criticize me without showng where or how I am wrong this will be my last comment to you ass-hole!

Mr. Williams I blocked you because your comments were annoying and aggravating. My last dialogue with you was concerning plan parenthood. I asked you based on the things that you were saying are you a racist several times. Each time you replied you gave no answer to my question if you were a racist. I decided to end the dialogue, yet you continued annoying and aggravating me like you presently do with Mr. Ron. I asked you to stop and if you didn't I would permanently blocked you. You decided to continue and I blocked you. Now you are complaining that I am a cowardly blocker! Absolutely not. I aspire to intelligence. I like to think and reason and not be annoyed and aggravated by stupid and ignorant responses.
