The A. D. King Foundation, Inc., in conjunction with the National Park Service, held the 50th Commemorative Memorial Service for Rev. Dr. Alfred Daniel Williams King, on July 21st, at the Heritage Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Mrs. Naomi King, and family received pastors, board members, media, and distinguished guest at the reception in the basement of the church. On this day -July 21, 1969 - Rev. A. D. King, passed away under suspicious circumstances ruled as an accidental drowning - days before his 39th birthday - the age his older brother Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was when he was assassinated.
Dr. Babs Onabanjo, shared his story of how he had no idea Dr. M. L. King, had a Brother - but once he completed his research - he became the CEO at the A. D. King Foundation. Dr. Babs, has done some amazing things with outreach, by partnering with Helping Young People Evolve (HYPE), and other platforms to further the mission of the foundation.
Dr. K. Renee Robertson, served as Mistress of Ceremony and Rev. Eddy Reynold, served as Master of Ceremony. The memorial service begin with the boy scout color guard presenting the colors, followed by musical, and video selections, an a line-up of clergy men, women, and distinguished guests.
Mrs. King, spoke about the unconditional "LOVE" she has for all mankind. She also shared her disbelief that her husband died of drowning, she considers his death as "part of the system."
