In Conclusion: FIRE FLIES: As you may already know last year was a banner year for UFO sightings and during the spring of 2019, there was a lot of buzz about the military and their slight change of heart regarding military personnel reporting UFOs. There has also been an upswell of interest from scientists that have offered their hypothesis on just what we are dealing with out in space. New data for 2020 is showing that there seem to be more that believe that we ware not alone in the universe. A majority of Americans 57 percent believe there is intelligent life elsewhere in the galaxy. More than a quarter believe that those alien societies if they exist, would resemble ours. While there are plenty of UFO believers that will tell you that many scientists and government officials are well aware of what is going on – we may have been too hasty in thinking that everyone is agreeing on what we are dealing with and whether or not UFO’s are being piloted exclusively by extraterrestrial intelligence. Even scientists who are actively involved in the search for alien life in the cosmos don’t like to speculate about exactly what they might found out there. It is now the job of scientists to spate the mythology form the reality. Biological life will certainly be found in outer space. There is major interest in going to Mars and of course, last year, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said we might find microbial life on Mars. Scientists are also focusing their attention on Jupiter’s Icy moon, Europa. Scientists are now realizing that what cannot be found on the surface of Mars or Europa can be found by digging deeper beneath the surface. Observations of the snowball moon suggest that the water beneath the surface is both salty and perhaps heated by hydrothermal vents, producing a nice mix of conditions for life to thrive. There are plans to send a NASA mission, dubbed Europa Clipper, to look for life on the frozen satellite. Europa Clipper won’t search for signs of life, but the probe will attempt to gauge the moon’s habitability. The Jupiter-orbiting spacecraft will characterize the moon’s ocean during dozens of flybys and collect a variety of other data as well — including scouting out good touchdown locations for a potential life-hunting lander mission. Scientists are now developing what can be called “tunnelbots” that will land on the surface of Europa and then tunnel through the ice t other water below – the idea is a submerged satellite that could produce images of aquatic life below the surface. They are serious about finding life because they are sure that they will find it. We also know that researchers have been discovering more exo-planets — planets located beyond our Solar System, including those that might just be habitable to life. It is no longer out of the question that geological and evolutionary forces that drive the development of intelligent life on Earth are operating elsewhere in the universe. The UFO disclosure question is now being asked by reporters in the mainstream and the pressure is on by government entities to at least lift the veil on UFO secrecy and whether or not we are dealing with an extraterrestrial threat – or new exotic weaponry that will be piloted by Space force pilots in the future. When you look at the figure for 2020 there are a lot of people that are having a change of heart when t comes to the UFO/alien connection. While many are still thinking that UFO’s could be piloted by extraterrestrials, there are now drones and satellites that are in the sky that can be mistaken for UFOs and so now more people are beginning to think that while the alien UFO connection is intriguing there are those that believe that perhaps what we are seeing in the sky is precluding a war in space.

Forty-five percent of Americans now believe that UFOs exist and have visited the Earth. That seems to be down from previous surveys –and can be attributed to the various announcements of patents and other declassified materials being released to the public that illustrate the deigns by the military of aircraft that actually could be mistaken for an alien spacecraft. This indicates that perhaps the study of UFOs and alien spacecraft is maturing a bit from when it first was presented – there are certainly historical records and documentation of various UFO encounters that need to be reviewed again and again to separate the strange and paranormal activity from the more prosaic explanations. Now that we have escaped the political charade of impeachment and the month of February is still young there were a number of announcements that were newsworthy that cut through what can be called the information embargo on the study of UFOs and the possibility of alien life out in space. The first big announcement that has attempted to be heard over the noise is that the United Kingdom has now released more information on UFOs and have declassified many articles that were kept from the public by the Ministry of Defense. From the early 1950s until 2009, a department in the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense documented and investigated reports of UFOs. Now, more than a decade after the program ended, many of those formerly classified files about UFO sightings will be made available to the public for the first time. Previously, some Ministry of Defense files about UFOs had been published online at the U.K. National Archives website. However, all of the agency’s UFO reports will be released this year on “a dedicated gov.uk web page” which appears to be baby steps in disclosure –something that he United States has been reluctant in accomplishing.

Much of what is being released has a striking resemblance to the reports of Project Blue Book – a public relations fiasco that attempted to debunk many UFO sightings that took place in the United States in the 1950s. The UK’s fascination with UFOs spiked around 1950, prompting the Ministry of Defense to form the Flying Saucer Working Party to address the phenomenon, according to the U.K. National Archives. UFOs in the early 1950s even captured the attention of Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who sent a memo to his air minister in 1952 asking, “What does all this stuff about flying saucers amount to? Despite the efforts of many journalists to get the Pentagon to provide more details, the military continues to put up what amounts to a cone of silence for the most part. What can be reported now is that a number of scientists have been pouring over the little data available and marveling at the technology on display. The disclosure of the Pentagon’s UFO program, which officially existed between 2008 and 2012, has stirred interest on Capitol Hill. Members of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees have requested details on the program; the latter has quietly interviewed a number of the military pilots who claim to have witnessed UFOs while on training missions.

This means that the military and intelligence professionals are being briefed on UFO incidents that they believed should be treated as a national security matter. The question is what officials are hearing now that they did not know back in the 1940s when the saucer hysteria was common after World War II? There are striking similarities between a central UFO narrative from the Cold War era and the one getting mainstream media attention in 2020. Many people who have been studying the UFO phenomenon for decades are certainly feeling a sense of déjà vu. The only difference is that while UFO’s have been buzzing our skies since the Truman era they have remained elusive and difficult to positively authenticate. Times have changed and while many felt that we were well on our way to disclosure there may have been an indication that whatever is out there was planning an incursion or an invasion. At the time, the UFO craze in the United States showed no sign of ebbing. For his show, Cronkite enlisted a number of prominent experts, such as a young astronomer named Carl Sagan, to demystify UFOs. J. Allen Hynek, another astronomer who was a scientific adviser to the Pentagon’s ongoing UFO investigation, also was featured. After Cronkite was done with the science portion of the show, he turned to other possible explanations, such as new military technology, “strange-looking crafts” that had been created by the budding aerospace industry for the Air Force. There was also another unknown craft, he added, “probably being tested in secret.” Still, public interest in UFOs could not be dimmed. Several years after Cronkite’s broadcast, the Air Force contracted with the University of Colorado (CU) to convene a distinguished panel of scientists on the subject. This meeting produced the Condon Report that once again stacked the deck against the alien possibilities and leaning more towards meteorological and space phenomena. No matter how hard and relentless scientists have been debunking so-called saucer stories they have not killed the interest in what people see –and what they think they are seeing. It also has not dimmed the interest by the military as to what the intent of these UFO’s are. We now have hard data and credible witnesses. We also now have the interest of politicians in Washington that have been briefed on these matters. We also now have a Space Force that was conveniently created after the public was informed about the close encounters of the military. Some say this is disclosure others say it isn’t and others say that it isn’t the disclosure that was wanted but it is what we get under the circumstances. In other words, you are not going to get the whole story– as the world powers are already talking about making space a fighting domain –even though in the past we were committed not to. The question is why we are abandoning that commitment? Is there reason to believe that what we once thought were non-hostile craft are now a threat to the planet. World powers are now arming their space arsenals.

Both Russia and China continue to pursue anti-satellite weapons as a means to reduce the US and allied military effectiveness. Russia and China aim to have nondestructive and destructive counters pace weapons available for use during a potential future conflict. Military reforms in both countries in the past few years indicate an increased focus on establishing operational forces designed to integrate attacks against space threats and services with military operations in other domains. What is of particular concern is that Russia and China continue to launch “experimental” satellites that conduct sophisticated on-orbit activities, at least some of which are intended to advance counter-space capabilities. Some technologies with peaceful applications such as satellite inspection, refueling, and repair can also be used against adversarial spacecraft. The new interest in creating a space fortress after 70 years of Cold War UFO stories should send a signal that there are various scenarios that the military is preparing for. When considering the prospect of intelligent alien life, humankind should prepare for the worst, according to a new study: Either we’re alone, or any aliens out there are acquisitive and resource-hungry, just like us. These two unpalatable options are pretty much the only possibilities, according to the new study. That’s because evolution is predictable, and alien biospheres should thus produce intelligent creatures much like us with the technological prowess and an ever-increasing need for resources. Long observations should have given the aliens a head start – they are smart to stay covert while still monitoring how we act and react to threats.
